English is following Japanese paragraph
博多にもどってはや3週間。子守りの毎日で毎週アッという間に過ぎていく。3歳と5歳の甥っ子に5カ月の姪っ子。とくにまだ赤ちゃんの姪っ子はかわいい。抱っこしてーと甘えて泣くのもおばちゃんバカなのでカワイくて仕方がない。うちの姪っ子、甥っ子が1番だ。
この3週間、ほとんどインターネットもつながず、メールもチェックせず、新聞もろくに読まず、世間一般から切り離された生活だ。ケーブルＴＶのアメリカ製ＴＶドラマをよく見て夜更かしをしている。仕事のﾌﾟﾚｯｼｬｰもなくのんびり子守りでもしているのも最近は物足りない。おかげでずっとさぼっていたメールもブログもやっとヤル気が出てきた。
今、「河童が覗いたインド」を読んでいる。「そうそう、わかる～」とうなずくことが多く、インドに行く前に読んでおくと良かったはずだが、帰国後に読んでもとてもおもしろい。2年もムンバイにいたのにムンバイ以外は知らず、名前だけは知っている場所を本で読んで楽しんでいる。次にインドに行く機会があれば、マイソールとハイデラバードに行きたい。もちろん、タージ・マハールとジャイプールも。
この2年間を振り返って、不思議の国、インドはまた行ってみたい国になった。ほとんどムンバイ以外は知らないけれど、人の良さ、なんでもありの生活、幅広い階級に、さまざまな宗教。いろんな意味でインドは面白い。インドの会社でインド人社員と働いたのも経験だった。またインドの会社で働いてみたいか？と聞かれるとちょっと困るかな。。。。インドの会社で日本の感覚で働くと結構ツラいと思う。生活でもオフィスボーイズやオフィスメイド、総務の人たちの助けがないとやっていけないし。。。虫やカビ、ゴミの匂い、汚い電車車両、、日本では思いつかないようなことで悩まされる。でも普通の生活では治安はいい。
テロとか、北部の問題、そしてパキスタンとの問題、治安がいいとは言えないのかもしれないけれど、普通の生活においてはいかにリキシャドライバーに料金をごまかされないか、食料品の買い物でレジの順番をごまかされないか、ぐらいがいわゆるムカつく～事だし、のんびりした時間感覚と世話好きで良い人が多いので、治安に関しては南米に住む妹が羨むほどだ。とにかく、インドに行くまではインドがこんな国だとは思わなかった。人がよくて、まだカースト制度の名残りを残し、いろんな宗教がいりまじって、世話好きな人たちで、いろんな種類の言語を話し、好奇心旺盛で、とにかく、どこに行っても人がいっぱいで、、、。今度はインドを旅行したい。2年間、働くチャンスを与えてくれたカクタスコミュニケーションズ、同僚のみんな、そして親切なヨーグルトやさん、アパートのご近所さん、野菜売りのおじちゃん、ムンバイのみなさん、どうもありがとう！
It’s been three weeks since I came back from Mumbai. I’m taking care of my nephews and niece. They are very cute but I’m getting board of the life that no pressure from work and not much interaction with many people. I have been lazy so far. I don’t connect internet often and I don’t read newspaper. I feel I don’t connect to the world or my life is getting smaller.
Anyway, time is going very fast.
When I think about the Indian life, I had never imagined India was like that before I went to. I thought that India is one of the countries of BRICs so that it has internet connection like US. Actually, internet connection was very unstable and difficult to connect. I don’t like TATA indicom very much now. I had lots of experience like discovered small things that I didn’t know and funny stories like; I tried to give my chapatti to auto driver instead of the fee because I didn’t have coins. Anyway, he refused my offer. I was locked out inside of my room. Raining inside of my apartment. Taxi driver took me to Japanese consular’s home even though I wanted to go Japanese consular office….
I found that Munbaikars are very kind and have lots of curiosity. There are variety of religions, language, traditions, and variety of food. I loved road side food, you know.
I really thank you my friends, colleagues, Cactus, my neighbors. I couldn’t survive for two years without your help. I will never forget two years in India. It was great experience.
